So today’s challenge was to post what’s inside my fridge. I haven’t been home much today. I’ve been running errands getting ready for a baby shower tomorrow and my youngest’s birthday party on Sunday. Busy day! So, as I sit at the park watching my girls play, I thought I’d change it up a bit. Tell you about my town…
I was born and raised in the city of Las Vegas! I won’t lie, I have had a struggle with this town. A love hate relationship. But, as my girls are growing older, I love this town. I do sometimes think about leaving here, but I never will. It’s my home.
This is what people think of when they think of Las Vegas. “Where do people live?” or “Is your home in a hotel?” Are just a few questions people ask us when they hear we’re from Vegas. I won’t lie, I probably spend more time on the strip than a normal Vegas local, just due to the fact my husband works in a casino. We tend to see him for lunch at least once a week, not to mention swim at the pools and visit the many family friendly attractions. But this isn’t the Vegas I know and love.
Gilcrease Orchard: We love the Orchard. Every holiday, there’s so many activities happening. We go every other week to get fresh produce. We love getting fresh fruits and veggies off the trees and off the vines. Fall is my favorite. We get our pumpkins and enjoy some delicious apple cider donuts. Yum!
Ball Parks: We spend every week at the ball park playing softball. There’s more than just a baseball diamond, it’s a family we’ve created there. It’s our home away from home. Not to mention, winning championships here is amazing too!
Floyd Lamb Park: Both my husband and I have grown up having celebrations at this park. From company events to birthday parties. We play horseshoes, bocce ball, fish, BBQ, and all around, have an amazing time! We’re blessed to be able to pass the same tradition down to our children.
Mount Charleston: Short drive, we end up in the beautiful mountains! Snowy in the winter, green in the spring/summer. There’s so much to explore. Hiking, camping, sledding, horseback riding, just to name a few!
Our Community: This picture was taken at our church, but there’s always so much happening in our community. It may be a large city, but it’s truly a small town. The communities put on events for families and charities all the time. So much happening every weekend. From movies in the park to parades.
It’s always an adventure in Las Vegas. As I said, my girls are growing older and were out in the community more, enjoying everything this town has to offer. Just like any city, there’s going to be crime. Las Vegas, the real Las Vegas, isn’t “Sin City” like everyone thinks it is. There’s church life, dance moms, softball games, orchard, nature life, and so much more.
There’s so much to Las Vegas beyond the casinos.
What’s your favorite part about your town?
